LANcom Technology's CampusCommunicator™ School Communications System to be Shown at InfoComm

Mitek Communications Group introduces the first product resulting from the merger of IED and Atlas Sound

LAS VEGAS, NV, June 18, 2008—LANcom Technologies, a division of the Mitek Communications Group, will introduce its new CampusCommunicator at this year’s InfoComm. Offering wide-reaching communications capabilities designed expressly to meet the needs of educational facilities, the CampusCommunicator brings classroom sound reinforcement, intercom, public address paging, bell scheduling, emergency notification, and clock synchronization together under a single umbrella of control, monitoring, and functionality. The system can be previewed, by appointment only, at InfoComm 2008. To make an appointment call 800-965-4574 or see a LANcom representative at booth C4785 (IED) or C4049 (Atlas Sound).

The CampusCommunicator is the first school communications system to incorporate classroom amplified learning and announcement override with facility-wide paging, intercom, and visual messaging. LANcom’s unique Amplified Learning™ technology - classroom voice and media amplification allows distribution of a teacher’s voice and multimedia presentations so that they can be heard clearly by every student. Announcement override is a feature that mutes classroom sound amplification when any message is broadcast into the classroom. A variety of studies show that the presence of amplified learning in the classroom leads to improved learning and student engagement, better teacher effectiveness, and reduced teacher fatigue. After bringing amplified learning to its classrooms, one school in New Jersey showed a 30% increase in first grade reading scores year over year.

Capable of being integrated with existing network infrastructures as well as traditional telephone and loudspeaker systems, CampusCommunicator’s classroom stations connect to the system over a single CAT 5 cable, thereby facilitating use within a structured cable environment. Additionally, the system can be interfaced with security, fire, and building management systems. While most school intercom systems are limited to audio communication, CampusCommunicator incorporates the ability to simultaneously send audio and text messages. Text can be sent to visual displays as well as via instant messages to designated computers.

Beyond classroom sound reinforcement, priority paging, and multimedia competence, the LANcom family of products includes the LAN-IM. Used to display important messages on networked teacher and administrator computer screens LAN-IM also supports multiple announcement transmission to other visual displays systems.
